edie Extra x Springwise podcast: Live from ChangeNow – Where next for corporate climate innovation?

This special episode of edie Extra sees the Springwise team take the podcasting reigns for a deep dive into the world of climate innovation – broadcast live from ChangeNOW in Paris.

Six months on from Springwise becoming part of the edie family, Springwise’s Commissioning Editor Matt Hempstead and Content Editor Matilda Cox join edie’s Publisher Luke Nicholls for a bumper episode of the podcast, recorded on the show floor at the ChangeNow event.

As a Major Ecosystem Partner of ChangeNow, Springwise had behind-the-scenes access to the two-day event, with this podcast episode featuring FOUR special guest interviews from across the spectrum of climate innovation and green business.

The first guest speaker is artist Côme Di Meglio, who describes his latest installation MyCosmos. Displayed on the show floor of ChangeNOW, MyCosmos explores the architectural potential of mycelium – the root-like structures of fungi.

Then, Emmanouela Varoucha, Impact Manager at Rabo Foundation explains how supporting small farmers and agtech companies with impact debt can help to drive positive innovation across continents.

Next, Brett Cotten, founder and CEO of plant-based materials startup Arda Biomaterials outlines some of the challenges startups face when working with larger organisations. This includes a shortage of in-house skills to distinguish between good and bad technological solutions.

And finally, Romain Meggle, Group Open Innovation Director at Sodexo, shares his advice on how to maintain discipline in corporate innovation programmes while still leaving room for local initiative and creativity.

Wrapping up the episode, Luke, Matt and Matilda are joined by former Springwise Chair and revered climate innovation expert James Bidwell for a much-needed summary of the event and a look ahead to what’s next in the world of corporate climate innovation.
